In the most confusing day yet, Police in force showed up at my doorstep and treated me as possibly armed as they pulled me out of the house. I, confused, did not resist, and they stated I was not under arrest as they handcuffed me. They then proceeded to search the house breifly for firearms as they asked me questions about my father.
Overall, this was mildly distressing, and slightly embaressing, given that I was in my 'rags till I clean laundry' level of clothes, but I just sat and wondered what was going on.
The story is, after they finished searching the house, that someone had called the Suicide Hotline using my father's number, and they were trying to find him. Now, I know he had been a little depressed, but he had not been THAT depressed... however, my little brother's phone is also in his name. What I suspect is that one of his teen friends called, and then hung up, and that all the commotion is because of him. He, of course, didn't disclose his location to the police, like a good person who is answering a complete stranger on the phone.
Now, this could be a joke... or it could be something serious... but at this point, I just am not amused. A lot of officers just went out of their way to save nobody, and I was the object of their frustration. I fully expect a visit from them in a day or two, just as followup, and I, myself, am going to have to rearrange things *yet again* to accomidate what is effectively a police request.
...
I probably should have asked to see a warrant, but to be honest, I was mostly in shock that they were there in the first place, that I just went along.

So, More of the mystery solved
Jun. 21st, 2012 05:22 pmOkay... So we checked the Phone Billings...
Turns out Little Bro is fine and clean. Nothing truely happened with the phone.
Father's phone, on the other hand, has a lot of calls he never made all from today, including to the Vet's Suicide Hotline, which is the core of this particular issue. We have to assume someone has phonejack'd papa's phone and it's calling all sorts of places trying to get drugs and things.
So... mystery solved, but it is distressing how little this family keeps track of their phones.
