How to be really cheap...
Jul. 1st, 2012 09:59 amAn article about the new Disney Villian Line here,, this one focusing on the great morphing of Ursula into being the queen of plus sized villians to being a skinny whisp.
If you look at the last image on the page, you can instantly tell what has happened here. The company, basically, is too cheap to make two different body doll types. We can tell, because each fashion pose has the *EXACT* same dimensions. There is only one reason for this, and that is to save money on mass production of the base body parts. If the only part you need to make different is the head, than it cuts down costs, right?
*Except* that in order to do that, you have to take away two (maybe three, depending on your view point on DeVill)character's most defining physical characteristic. Their Size. I mean, nevermind that both Ursula and the Queen of Hearts puts the Barbi Model of characteristics to shame, but both characters were both Heavy Weight *AND* fashionable. The Queen of Hearts more so than most probably give her credit for.
For the sake of being COST EFFECTIVE, not only do we send the wrong message to the teens that will end up with these dolls, we also do diservice to the vision of these characters and the artists who created them.
Please, oh, please Disney, ship the consumer cost a few quarters a piece, and actually *make* plus sized dolls. Deal with big breasted and big bellied fashion for once. Prove to others that ANYONE can be pretty, just not the skinny ones. It's going to make someones day when you do.
