It's not in particular that I'm excited by Boy Ponies per say... I just am happy that there is some sense of gender balance. It thrills the living day lights out of me that some of the boy ponies are treated like objects (The Herald Flying Ponies, for example), and that for the most part, they are placed in a secondary role, not as problem solvers.
I realize that it's WEIRD to be excited about such things, but given the last couple of girl-centric shows I've watched, there has been really bad gender-balance (among other things). It's just nice to see a more balanced, even if it's still unrealistic (I'm good with fantasy), approach.
